My Good Girl

Rach and her snake friends
watching a Barbie movie during chest therapy.

Today, really was just another ordinary day, but my Rachel is not!  Rachel had Kindergarten, we ran a couple errands, met friends at the park , and we went on a mile jog with the dogs.  After our jog,  I set up Rachel's chest therapy stuff and told her to go ahead and pick out a movie.  As she was picking out a movie, I was checking emails.  The next thing I know, I hear it all start up.  I couldn't believe it.  She  put on her vest, hooked it  up to the machine and started it all up without me saying.  She even got her friends to sit with her!

Please Pray

Rachel has a "cyster", Nicole, that I met through my recipe blog.  She submitted a recipe, we exchanged a couple emails, and became Facebook friends.
Nicole needs prayers, lots and lots of prayers.
Nicole, 23 weeks pregnant, was admitted to the hospital on Friday due to a severe lung bleed.  She's had surgery to stop the bleed. She has been making small improvements but this is update I got this morning, "I apologize for the lack of update on Nicole. She is retaining a lot of fluid and her kidneys are not working. They put her on a 24 hour dialysis machine. They are not doing this is a permanent thing and are hoping that after the dialysis Nicole's kidneys will begin functioning on their own. Her lungs are beginning to show small improvements. The baby is stable and was even moving around yesterday"
Please take a minute or two and say a prayer for her and baby.

Pills, Pills, Pills

A cute little pill case I got for Rachel.

When I dreamed of having children, loading pill cases wasn't what I pictured.  Every two weeks I refill Rachel's two, Sun through Sat pill cases.  It's not hard or even time consuming (unless I have to split pills).  It just one of those things, that quite frankly I shouldn't have to do for my little girl.  Having said that, I'm very grateful for the pills and other medication.  It keeps my sweetheart healthy, strong, and feisty to she can kick CF butt.
There, that's it....just had to vent a little.....
now, let's hit the beach!

The assembly line.
This is nothing compared to what some people with
CF have to take.

Homeschool Kindergarten

first day of Kindergarten......
and in Aloha attire

Rachel is now a Kindergartner.  It's been just over a month now.  It's going good except for the getting up early part!  We were both spoiled with sleeping in.
Our typical day is : get up, dressed, brush teeth, etc. - go downstairs, have a little juice, Rachel takes a couple hits off her inhaler and two sprays of nasal spray - start up chest therapy and breathing treatments - Rachel takes her pills then has breakfast - school starts (Bible, phonics, math,) - snack break - school starts again (social studies, science, handwriting) - lunch - recess/exercise - last part of school (art and/or music) - school's over - Rachel is free to play & I'm free to do housework (oh, joy!) or..........
we go only two miles down the road, plant ourselves in the sand, soak up the sun, and splash around in the ocean.
(yea, that's more like it!)
hehe

Kapa 'ele 'ele Trail Hike

Kapa 'ele 'ele Trail; we can mark this one off our list.
Rach and I recently (a week ago) hiked Kapa 'Ele 'Ele Trail, a mile long loop. It was an easy hike and the views were awesome.  But hey, it's Hawaii - it's bound to be beautiful, right?
We thoroughly enjoyed kicking CF butt that day!

At Ahupua'a 'O Kahana State Park
Kahana, Ohau
Near the beginning.

She's modeling her new waterproof hiking shoes;
fyi - there were absolutely no mud puddles on this hike!
Guess she can get them dirty on the next one.

Going up the hill.

Just taking it easy.

Why wouldn't you go on this hike?
What a view of Kahana Bay.

I enjoyed seeing this.

Kahana Bay
You better believe we went there after our hike.

Enough said!
